Director of Business Development (Sales)

Malenke | Barnhart, a leading digital agency and developer of web-based solutions for Fortune 500 companies, is looking for a highly motivated Director of Business Development to help us drive business growth. This person will leverage extensive connections within medium and large businesses and deep interactive industry knowledge to originate leads, sell new work to existing clients, and penetrate new business areas. Like Malenke | Barnhart, he or she will have a proven ability to foster successful, long-term relationships.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify and engage prospects through discovery calls and presentations.
  • Build relationships with executive decision makers inside client and target organizations.
  • Understand prospects' objectives and customize approaches to their needs.
  • Consult with clients and prospects on relevant agency services and solutions.
  • Create winning proposal documents and manage the RFP response process.
  • Develop and conduct sales presentations alone and with the team.
  • Manage leads through the sales cycle to a successful close.
  • Collaborate on account strategy and planning to develop existing client business.
  • Communicate pipeline status to assist in forecasting.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of technologies, competitors and industry trends.
  • Communicate sales opportunities, market conditions and competitive insights in regular leadership meetings.
  • Attend professional and vertical industry meetings to uncover leads
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an applicable field
  • 5+ years of prior sales or business development experience
  • 3+ years of proposal creation and management
  • Demonstrated business development success
  • Successful track record in consultative selling
  • Proven skills in negotiation, persuasion and closing
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills
  • A high degree of initiative and organization
  • Ability to build rapport and inspire confidence
  • Deep understanding of web-related technologies and the ability to sell them
  • Experience selling user-centered solutions a plus
